AUDI focuses on biodiversity
Ingolstadt, Germany
The corporate activities of German car manufacturer
AUDI AG are influenced by the desire to preserve
resources and take a responsible approach to the
environment.
Sustainable development and manufacturing is based
on having efficient vehicles—yet Audi’s strategy for
environmental protection reaches far beyond this.
When the company wanted to assess the impact
of its development projects on the surrounding
environment, especially with regard to local
biodiversity, it turned to ARCADIS. We helped Audi
with an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) to
discover the extent to which its Ingolstadt site has
affected the biological diversity of the area.
Covering 107 hectares, the site in Ingolstadt is
home to AUDI’s largest production plant as well as
the company’s headquarters. The EIA project was
completed in November and has given AUDI a clear
impression of the impact that the site has had on
biodiversity and provided the company with
essential information for shaping its future
environmental policy.
